Regular Season Round 27: Culleredo - Gijon Basket 71-67

The game between closely ranked teams ended with fourth ranked Culleredo's (16-7) home victory over 5th ranked Gijon Basket (14-8) 71-67 on Saturday. It was a great shooting night for Culleredo especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. The best player for the winners was American forward Trevin Woods (198-96, college: Arkansas Tech) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Center Mario Cabanas (207-85) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Canadian forward Ryan Ejim (201-93, college: Carleton) who recorded a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds and Canadian-Nigerian Kenny Ejim (198-94, college: Humber) added 19 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Culleredo moved-up to second place in Group A-B, which they share with Chantada. Loser Gijon Basket keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Culleredo will face Leon (#7) on the road in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Gijon Basket will play against Estudiantes L. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
