Regular Season Round 51: Fukuoka Rizing - Ryukyu GK 59-70

No shocking result in a game when first ranked Ryukyu GK (33-18) defeated on the road 6th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (11-40) 70-59 on Saturday. They outrebounded Fukuoka Rizing 40-27 including 28 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was international guard Narito Namizato (172-89) who scored 17 points and 8 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). American forward Kevin Jones (206-89, college: W.Virginia) chipped in 8 points and 12 rebounds. Four Ryukyu GK players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was British forward Benjamin Lawson (216-95, college: WKU) who recorded 18 points and 9 rebounds and American Eric Jacobsen (208-94, college: ASU) added 16 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Fukuoka Rizing's coach Ryuji Kawai gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for Ryukyu GK. They maintain first place with 33-18 record. Fukuoka Rizing lost their sixth game in a row. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth position with 40 games lost. Ryukyu GK will have a break next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play again at home against the league's leader Ryukyu GK (#1) and hope to win that game.
