The game between closely ranked teams ended with 5th ranked Almeria's (13-10) road loss to fourth ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (16-8) 75-80 on Saturday. ASEFA Estudiantes outrebounded Almeria 37-25 including 27 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of center Mariana Gonzalez (187-88) who helped to win the game recording 17 points and American guard Brianna Butler (180-94, college: Syracuse) who added 12 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. ASEFA Estudiantes' coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was Argentinian power forward Ornella Santana (183-90) with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and point guard Isabel Latorre (170-96) scored 14 points and 8 assists. Four Almeria players scored in double figures. ASEFA Estudiantes maintains fourth position in Group B with 16-8 record. Loser Almeria keeps the fifth place with ten games lost. ASEFA Estudiantes will face league's second-placed Adelantados in San Cristobal in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Almeria will play on the road against UCAM Jairis in Alcantarilla and hope to win that game.
