No shocking result in a game in Madrid where third ranked Leganes (17-7) won against 6th ranked Real Canoe (13-11) 92-86 on Saturday. Leganes dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Real Canoe's 36. They outrebounded Real Canoe 41-26 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of Celia Menendez (186-90) who helped to win the game recording 33 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds and center Daira Varas (193-89) who added 14 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Lucia Rodriguez (186-99) with 33 points (!!!) and forward Grace Alonso-de-Armino (180-92, college: Freed-Hardeman) produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. Leganes have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group B with 17-7 record having five points less than leader Campus Promete. Loser Real Canoe keeps the sixth place with 11 games lost. Leganes will face Gran Canaria (#9) in Las Palmas in the next round where they are favorite. Real Canoe will play on the road against Picken Claret in Valencia and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
