The game in Las Palmas supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Adelantados (21-3) played at the court of 8th ranked Gran Canaria (12-12). Adelantados did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 81-61 on Saturday. Adelantados outrebounded Gran Canaria 50-26 including a 35-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Adelantados made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-96, college: Temple) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and Lithuanian power forward Lina Pikciute (192-90, agency: BeoBasket) who added 12 points and 17 rebounds during the contest. Five Adelantados players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was Senegalese Marieme Diop (186) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and American guard Sparkle Taylor (178-95, college: UTEP) scored 18 points. Adelantados have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position in Group B with 21-3 record behind leader Campus Promete. Loser Gran Canaria keeps the eighth place with 12 games lost. Adelantados will face ASEFA Estudiantes (#4) in Madrid in the next round. Gran Canaria will play on the road against Leganes (#3) and hope to win that game.
