Kauhajoki managed to secure a 4-point victory 69-65 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-16. But Joensuun Kataja won second period 15-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Kauhajoki won last quarter 21-18. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Kauhajoki made 7 blocks. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Rene Rougeau (198-86, college: UNLV, agency: Blacktop Management) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 blocks. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Kauhajoki. Defending champion maintains second place with 26-9 record having five points less than leader Vilpas. Loser Joensuun Kataja keeps the fifth position with 15 games lost. Kauhajoki will meet at home league's leader Vilpas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Joensuun Kataja will play against Kouvot (#7) in Kouvola and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
