Regular Season Round 27: Mondragon - Solares 89-85

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Solares (5-18) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Mondragon (14-9) 89-85 on Sunday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Mondragon looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Solares' players. The best player for the winners was point guard Dani Lorenzo (181-93) who scored 22 points and 6 assists. Power forward Martin Buesa (204-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Sergio Garcia (195-95) who recorded 7 points and 12 rebounds and power forward Borja Anillo (200-87) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Mondragon maintains sixth place in Group A-A with 14-9 record. Solares lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the thirteenth position with 18 games lost. Mondragon will face higher ranked Valle de Egues (#5) in Olaz in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Solares will play on the road against Gallofa (#4) in Santander and hope to win that game.
