We should mention about the upset which took place in Kalyvia, where higher ranked Kalyvion (9-10) lost at home to tenth ranked Sporting (8-11) 70-78 on Sunday. Sporting dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Kalyvion's 30 and made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Sporting looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. It was a great evening for American-Bahrain power forward Brittany Lewis (188-89, college: Louisiana Tech) who led her team to a victory scoring 17 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists. International center Styliani Fouraki (188-94) helped adding 25 points and 5 rebounds. Four Sporting players scored in double figures. At the losing side American power forward Tori Jarosz (189-92, college: Marist, agency: Gamble Sports Management) responded with a double-double by scoring 28 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard AJ Alix (168-95, college: FSU) scored 18 points. Sporting moved-up to seventh place, which they share with 3 other teams. Kalyvion at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the sixth position with ten games lost. Sporting will meet at home higher ranked Esperides (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Kalyvion will play against Eleutheria M. in Athens and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
