Regular Season Round 52: San-en - Niigata Albirex 70-74

B League top team - Niigata Albirex (37-15) added another victory to their record. This time they beat fifth ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (20-32) in Hamamatsu 74-70. 24 personal fouls committed by San-en NeoPhoenix helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) fired a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for the winners. The other American import power forward Lamont Hamilton (208-84, college: St.John's) chipped in 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Point guard Shinnosuke Ohishi (174-87) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists and American-Bulgarian power forward Cedric Simmons (206-86, college: NC State) added 10 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Niigata Albirex maintains first position with 37-15 record. San-en NeoPhoenix lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with 32 games lost. Niigata Albirex's next round opponent will be Toyama Grouses (#4) at home. San-en NeoPhoenix will play against the league's second-placed Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa and hope to win that game.
