Second Stage Round 2: Gifu Swoops - Kagoshima 77-79

Important game to mention about took place in Gifu. Kagoshima (1-1) saved a 2-point derby victory on the road edging Gifu Swoops (1-3) 79-77 in the game for the fifth place. Strangely Gifu Swoops outrebounded Kagoshima 43-26 including a 18-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American forward Shelton Boykin (198-92, college: Angelo St.) scored 20 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Bahamas center Gjio Bain (211-85, college: S.Mississippi) chipped in 22 points and 8 rebounds (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Kagoshima players scored in double figures. Montenegrin-Qatari forward Alen Hadzibegovic (209-99) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds and point guard Ito Ryota (178-92) scored 21 points. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Kagoshima will play against Tokyo Cinq R. (#7) on the road in the next round. Gifu Swoops will play against Iwate Big Bulls and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
