Regular Season Round 159: Charlotte H. - Golden St.W. 90-137
Date: March 31, 2019
No shocking result in a game when first ranked Warriors (52-24) crushed 3rd placed Hornets (35-41) in Charlotte 137-90 on Sunday. Warriors dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Hornets' 44. They outrebounded Hornets 50-28 including a 40-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Warriors shot the lights out from three sinking 21 long-distance shots on high 63.6 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 41 assists comparing to just 24 passes made by Hornets' players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Warriors made 10 blocks. It was a good game for point guard Stephen Curry (190-88, college: Davidson) who led his team to a victory with 25 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Point guard Quinn Cook (188-93, college: Duke) contributed with 21 points and 4 assists for the winners. Five Warriors players scored in double figures. Spanish center Guillermo Hernangomez (210-94) answered with 22 points and 5 rebounds and Jeremy Lamb (196-92, college: Connecticut) added 11 points and 5 assists in the effort for Hornets. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 52-24 record. Loser Hornets keep the third position with 41 games lost. Warriors will have a break next day. Hornets will play on the road against Jazz in Salt Lake City and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
