Very important is a road loss of second ranked Umana Venezia (17-7) against sixth ranked Openjobmetis VA (14-10) on Sunday night. Visiting Umana Venezia was defeated by Openjobmetis VA in a tough game in Varese 79-87. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Umana Venezia. They outrebounded Umana Venezia 40-22 including a 30-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Serbian swingman Aleksa Avramovic (192-94, agency: BeoBasket) who led his team to a victory with 26 points and 6 assists. American forward Dominique Archie (201-87, college: S.Carolina) contributed with 24 points (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. American point guard Julyan Stone (198-88, college: UTEP) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists and American-Dominican forward Mitchell Watt (208-89, college: Buffalo) added 15 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Umana Venezia. Four Umana Venezia players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Openjobmetis VA moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Happy Casa BR and Sidigas AV. Umana Venezia at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. Openjobmetis VA will play against Fiat TO (#15) in Torino in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Umana Venezia will play on the road against Happy Casa BR (#6) in Brindisi and hopes to get back on the winning track.
