Regular Season Round 53: Nagoya DD - Ryukyu GK 74-60

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of top-ranked Ryukyu GK (34-19) in Nagoya on Wednesday night. Visitors were defeated by third ranked Diamond Dolphins (28-25) 74-60. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Ryukyu GK. American forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) stepped up and scored 21 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and guard Takaya Sasayama (178-93) chipped in 17 points. Diamond Dolphins' coach Shingo Kajiyama used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jeff Ayres (206-87, college: ASU) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 13 rebounds and international forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) scored 11 points and 7 rebounds. Diamond Dolphins maintains third place with 28-25 record having seventeen points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with SeaHorses. Ryukyu GK at the other side still keeps top position with 19 games lost. Diamond Dolphins is looking forward to face Osaka Evessa (#4) at home in the next round. Ryukyu GK will play against the league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
