Regular Season Round 36: Kouvot - Kataja 97-78

Joensuun Kataja (#4) was upset in Kouvola by seventh ranked Kouvot 97-78. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 97-78. The best player for the winners was American Brian Asbury (201-86, college: Miami, FL) who scored 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import guard Jeremy Morgan (196-95, college: N.Iowa) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was international Topias Palmi (194-94, agency: Blacktop Management) who recorded 19 points and Cuban-American power forward Adrian Diaz (209-93, college: FIU) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Kouvot and four Joensuun Kataja players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Kouvot (18-19) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Seagulls. Loser Joensuun Kataja dropped to the fifth position with 16 games lost. Kouvot will meet Lapuan Korikobrat (#9) on the road in the next round. Joensuun Kataja will play against Helsinki Seagulls (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
