Rather expected game in Kanagawa where one of their biggest challengers Toyama Grouses (29-27) were defeated by second ranked Toshiba Thunders (37-19) 86-79 on Friday. Toshiba Thunders made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. The best player for the winners was international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who had a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists. American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists respectively. Toyama Grouses' coach Don Beck let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Toshiba Thunders have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 37-19 record having seven points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Loser Toyama Grouses dropped to the third place with 27 games lost.
