Second Stage Round 4: Charleville - Stade Rochelais 84-81
Date: April 5, 2019
Seventeenth-ranked La Rochelle (4-8) gave a tough game to eleventh ranked Charleville-Mezieres (9-3) on Friday. Charleville-Mezieres managed to secure only three-point victory 84-81. However their fans expected much easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of La Rochelle. Worth to mention a great performance of Bosnian Nemanja Kovanusic (204-93, agency: Octagon Europe) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 7 rebounds and the former international point guard Xane dAlmeida (181-83) who added 19 points and 7 assists during the contest. At the losing side naturalized Algerian guard Faycal Sahraoui (186-79) responded with 25 points and 6 assists and Lithuanian center Deividas Busma (212-87, college: Idaho St., agency: Octagon Europe) scored 16 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). La Rochelle's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Charleville-Mezieres moved-up to second place, which they share with Angers and Le Havre. Newly promoted La Rochelle dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. Charleville-Mezieres will face Union Tours (#13) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. La Rochelle will play against Kaysersberg (#19) and hope to win that game.
