Very expected game when 9th ranked Cornella (10-14) lost at home to third ranked Igualada (18-6) 73-64 on Saturday. Strangely Cornella outrebounded Igualada 38-25 including a 34-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for Carles Fons (189-91) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 5 rebounds. Jordi Torres (188-83) contributed with 13 points for the winners. Guard Xavi Guirao (190-87) replied with 12 points and 5 assists and center Albert Prior (202-99) added 11 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Cornella. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Igualada moved-up to second place in Group C-A, which they share with Quart. Loser Cornella keeps the ninth position with 14 games lost. Igualada will face Salou (#7) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Cornella will play against Valls Nutrion and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
