Very predictable result when third ranked Alcobendas (20-7) edged 9th ranked Lanzarote (11-16) in Arrecife 71-69 on Saturday. Quite impressive performance for power forward Roberto Morentin (204-81, college: Cent Florida) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 9 rebounds. Eduardo Alvarez contributed with 9 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Aziz Leeks (203-95, college: Idaho Coll.) replied with 16 points and 8 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Victor Bermudez (193-92, college: Texas St.) added 17 points in the effort for Lanzarote. Lanzarote's coach Federico Toledo tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Alcobendas have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position in Group B with 20-7 record having just twenty point less than leader Lliria. Loser Lanzarote keeps the ninth place with 16 games lost. Alcobendas will face league's second-placed Real Madrid II at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lanzarote will play against Tenerife Naut.
