Very important is a home loss of second ranked Toshiba Thunders (37-19) against fourth ranked Toyama Grouses (29-27) on Saturday night. Host Toshiba Thunders were defeated by Toyama Grouses in Kanagawa 88-74. It ended at the same time the eight-game winning streak of Toshiba Thunders. Toyama Grouses made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. It was a good game for center Joshua Smith (208-92, college: Georgetown) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 31 points and 15 rebounds. Forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri) contributed with 16 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Toyama Grouses' coach Don Beck allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Forward Shane Edwards (201-87, college: UALR) replied with 18 points and 7 rebounds and power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) added 10 points and 11 rebounds in the effort for Toshiba Thunders. Four Toyama Grouses and five Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. Toyama Grouses moved-up to third place. Toshiba Thunders at the other side keep the second position with 19 games lost.
