Regular Season Round 25: Adelantados - Estudiantes 94-92

Fourth-ranked ASEFA Estudiantes (16-9) made lots of trouble for second ranked Adelantados (22-3) in San Cristobal on Saturday. Adelantados managed to secure only two-point victory 94-92. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of ASEFA Estudiantes. Adelantados made 28-of-33 free shots (84.8 percent) during the game, while ASEFA Estudiantes only scored nine points from the stripe. American guard Tanaya Atkinson (183-96, college: Temple) fired 32 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals for the winners. British guard Chantel Charles (178-94, college: Maine) chipped in 24 points and 7 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws). Center Aitana Cuevas (189-86) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds and Serbian guard Nina Bogicevic (181-89) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ASEFA Estudiantes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Adelantados have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place in Group B with 22-3 record behind leader Campus Promete. ASEFA Estudiantes at the other side keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Adelantados are looking forward to face Almeria (#5) on the road in the next round. ASEFA Estudiantes will play against Leganes and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
