Very expected game in Tepic where 7th ranked Escaramuzas (1-6) were defeated by third ranked Mexcaltecas (5-2) 57-49 on Saturday. Mexcaltecas outrebounded Escaramuzas 41-30 including 34 on the defensive glass. The former international center Jazmin Valenzuela (187-89) fired 9 points and 16 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Paola Beltran (164-94) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Maritza Espinoza produced 16 points and 7 rebounds and Jhoana Moran (157-93) added 4 points respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Mexcaltecas. They maintain third place with 5-2 record having just two points less than leader Mieleras. Escaramuzas lost their third game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the seventh position with six games lost. Mexcaltecas will again meet Escaramuzas (#7) in the next round. Escaramuzas will have a break next round.
