Regular Season Round 28: Algeciras - Cazorla 86-66

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Algeciras as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group D. Algeciras smashed 7th ranked Cazorla at home 86-66. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Cazorla. They outrebounded Cazorla 44-26 including 16 on the offensive glass. Algeciras players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Cazorla's players. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Gibraltar point guard Miguel Ortega (188-91) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and American forward Andrew Kelly (201-91, college: Alaska-Fairb.) who added 13 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Algeciras' coach Javier Malla allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side American forward Dante Thompson (201-93, college: Goldey-Beacom) responded with a double-double by scoring 31 points, 12 rebounds and 4 blocks and guard Iker Barbero (192-92) scored 6 points. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Cazorla at the other side keeps the seventh place with 12 games lost. Cazorla will play next round against ULB OH!TELS trying to get back on the winning streak. Algeciras will try to continue on its current victory against fifteenth ranked Andujar on the road.
