Regular Season Round 22: Lavrio - AEK 94-100 OT

Tenth-ranked Lavrio (6-16) gave a tough game to third ranked AEK (17-5). The visitors from Athens managed to secure only six-point victory 100-94. However their fans expected much easier game. It looked good early as Lavrio took a 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then AEK had a 29-14 second period charge getting the lead. Then Lavrio managed to tie the game at the end of regular time, but lost overtime period 5-11. Worth to mention a great performance of American Vincent Hunter (203-94, college: UTEP) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 6 rebounds. International Dusan Sakota (210-86) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American-Panamanian guard Doron Lamb (193-91, college: Kentucky) replied with 23 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and Bosnian forward Milan Milosevic (203-85) added 13 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Lavrio. Five AEK and four Lavrio players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. AEK have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 17-5 record having just two points less than leader Panathinaikos. Lavrio at the other side dropped to the eleventh place with 16 games lost. AEK's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Athens Panathinaikos.
