Not a big story in a game when 10th ranked Betanzos (10-14) lost at home to first ranked Ponferrada CDP (19-5) 82-75 on Sunday. Ponferrada CDP outrebounded Betanzos 45-31 including 21 on the offensive glass. Quite impressive performance for American Sean McDonell (203-95) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import forward Amir Warnock (206-95, college: Ky Wesleyan) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. American guard Thomas Cooper (196-92, college: Calgary) replied with 21 points and 8 rebounds and center Marcos Rozas (202-83) added 16 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Betanzos. Betanzos' coach Ivan Villaverde tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Ponferrada CDP have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A-B with 19-5 record. Loser Betanzos dropped to the eleventh place with 14 games lost. Ponferrada CDP will face Carbajosa (#8) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Betanzos will play against the league's second-placed Chantada and hope to win that game.
