Regular Season Round 8: Quetzales - Gamos 76-85

Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Ciudad de Mexico: Gamos (#4) and Quetzales (#5). Quetzales were defeated at home 76-85 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Gamos outrebounded Quetzales 62-40 including a 43-28 advantage in defensive rebounds. Ashley Dechelle orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 16 rebounds. Colombian forward Luz Asprilla (183-92) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Izchel Valdez replied with 21 points and 8 rebounds and Cuban center Clenia Noblet (190-87) added 16 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Quetzales. Four Gamos and five Quetzales players scored in double figures. Quetzales' coach U Escamilla tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gamos maintains fourth position with 5-3 record. Quetzales at the other side keep the fifth place with five games lost. They share the position with Barreteras. Gamos will play against Escaramuzas (#7) in Guadalajara in the next round. Quetzales will play on the road against Mexcaltecas in Tepic and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
