Top ranked Londrina (7-3) recorded its third loss at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were edged by sixth ranked Rio Claro (5-6) 84-81. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Londrina. They outrebounded Londrina 39-21 including a 29-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American Cameron Tatum (200-88, college: Tennessee) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. His fellow American import point guard Korie Lucious (180-89, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 24 points. Rio Claro's coach Gustavo de Freitas used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American guard Jonathan Mulmore (193, college: Georgetown) produced 23 points and 4 steals and forward Ricardo Azevedo (201-83) added 21 points and 4 assists respectively for the hosts. Rio Claro maintains sixth place with 5-6 record. Londrina at the other side still keeps top position with three games lost. Rio Claro will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Londrina will play against Cerrado and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
