Regular Season Round 25: Holon - Nes-Ziona 84-97

The most surprising game was another loss of top-ranked Hapoel Holon (19-7) at the home court on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by ninth ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (11-14) 97-84. Ironi Nes-Ziona made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 14 long-distance shots on high 60.9 percentage. Ironi Nes-Ziona looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American swingman Daequan Cook (196-87, college: Ohio St.) stepped up and scored 30 points for the winners and naturalized Welsh Tal-Michael Dunne (198-87) chipped in 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side American guard Corey Walden (188-92, college: E.Kentucky) responded with 23 points and 6 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!) and the other American import forward Darion Atkins (203-92, college: Virginia) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Five Ironi Nes-Ziona and four Hapoel Holon players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Ironi Nes-Ziona moved-up to sixth place, which they share with H.Tel-Aviv and Rishon. Hapoel Holon at the other side still keeps top position with seven games lost. Ironi Nes-Ziona is looking forward to face Rishon (#8) in Rishon Le-Zion in the next round. Hapoel Holon will play at home against Hapoel Jerusalem (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
