Second Stage Round 3: Gifu Swoops - Iwate Big Bulls 77-74

A very close game took place in Gifu (derby !!!) between Gifu Swoops and Iwate Big Bulls. Gifu Swoops (2-4) got a very close home victory over Iwate Big Bulls (3-3). Gifu Swoops managed to escape with a 3-point win 77-74 on Sunday evening. Gifu Swoops made 23-of-28 free shots (82.1 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Canadian center Michael Allison (206-90, college: Maine) who had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. American Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 rebounds. Four Gifu Swoops players scored in double figures. Gifu Swoops' coach Kazuo Kusumoto used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was American Titus Robinson (201-90, college: Buffalo) who recorded a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import center Marcus Cousin (211-86, college: Houston) added 23 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Gifu Swoops will meet at home Koshigaya A. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Iwate Big Bulls will have a break next round.
