Regular Season Round 37: Vilpas - BC Nokia 108-89

Date: April 9, 2019
Leader Vilpas delivered the 32th victory. This time they crushed 8th ranked BC Nokia (15-23) 108-89 in Salo. The game was mostly controlled by Vilpas. BC Nokia was better in fourth quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Vilpas players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Antonio Ballard (194-88, college: Miami, OH) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jamie Skeen (203-88, college: VCU) contributed with 19 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners. Ballard is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Four Vilpas players scored in double figures. American point guard Armin Cane (188-93, college: Stockton, agency: Blacktop Management) answered with 28 points and 6 rebounds and Aapeli Alanen (201-96, agency: Blacktop Management) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for BC Nokia. Vilpas maintains first place with 32-7 record. BC Nokia lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with 23 games lost. Vilpas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. BC Nokia will play on the road against Helsinki Seagulls (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
