Regular Season Round 7: Cockburn C. - Kalamunda E.S. 88-78

There was a small surprise in Hamilton Hill where twelfth ranked Cougars (2-4) won against 9th ranked Suns (3-5) 88-78 on Friday. Strangely Suns outrebounded Cougars 50-35 including a 17-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Swingman Gavin Field (202-89, college: W.Georgia) fired a double-double by scoring 24 points, 13 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Guard Seva Chan (187-94) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 assists. Four Cougars players scored in double figures. American swingman Joshua Braun (193-94, college: GCU) produced 32 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Louis Timms (206-91, college: Wayland Baptist) added 22 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cougars moved-up to eleventh place in League. Loser Suns dropped to the tenth position with five games lost. Cougars will face higher ranked Lightning (#3) in North Lake in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
