There was no surprise when 5th ranked Saitama Broncos (3-3) were defeated at home by third ranked Tokyo Cinq R. (4-4) 88-84 on Saturday. Senegalese Bira Seck (204-90, college: Idaho, agency: Interperformances) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Point guard Atomu Yamada (179-98) chipped in 22 points and 4 assists. Four Tokyo Cinq R. players scored in double figures. Tokyo Cinq R.'s coach Kyoichi Sugawara used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American center Antone Warren (208-93, college: Antelope Valley CC) produced a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and his fellow American import Darnell Martin (198-91, college: CS Dominguez H.) added 9 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals respectively for lost side. Tokyo Cinq R. have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Koshigaya A. Saitama Broncos lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Tokyo Cinq R. will face Iwate Big Bulls (#5) at home in the next round. Saitama Broncos will play against the league's leader Tokyo Excel. and hope to win that game.
