Regular Season Round 27: Alpo VF - Marghera 72-69

Eleventh-ranked Marghera (10-16) gave a tough game to third ranked Alpo VF (22-5) in Verona on Saturday. Alpo VF managed to secure only three-point victory 72-69. However their fans expected much easier game. Alpo VF forced 23 Marghera turnovers. The best player for the winners was power forward Marta Scarsi (182-95) who scored 9 points and 13 rebounds. Point guard Sofia Vespignani (170-96) chipped in 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Sara Toffolo (184-0) who recorded a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds and British forward Christina Gaskin (188-93, college: Fordham) added 3 points and 14 rebounds respectively. Alpo VF maintains third place in A2 with 22-5 record having just one point less than leader Campobasso. Loser Marghera dropped to the twelfth position with 16 games lost. Alpo VF will meet league's leader Costa Masnaga on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Marghera will play against Milano (#9) and hope to secure a win.
