Not a big story in a game in Kariya where 5th ranked San-en NeoPhoenix (22-35) was defeated by third ranked Aishin Sea Horses (30-27) 91-83 on Saturday. Aishin Sea Horses outrebounded San-en NeoPhoenix 37-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Kennedy Meeks (208-95, college: UNC) who scored 23 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Aishin Sea Horses' coach Kimikazu Suzuki used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Bulgarian power forward Cedric Simmons (206-86, college: NC State) who recorded 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) and American center William McDonald (211-79, college: S.Florida) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Five Aishin Sea Horses and four San-en NeoPhoenix players scored in double figures. Aishin Sea Horses moved-up to second place, which they share with Nagoya DD. Loser San-en NeoPhoenix dropped to the fourth position with 35 games lost. Aishin Sea Horses will face again San-en NeoPhoenix (#5) in Hamamatsu in the next round.
