Regular Season Round 27: Anwil - GTK Gliwice 113-81
Date: April 13, 2019
There was no surprise in Wloclawek where 11th ranked GTK (9-18) was crushed by fourth ranked Anwil (20-7) 113-81 on Saturday. Anwil dominated down low during the game scoring 80 of its points in the paint compared to GTK's 38. They outrebounded GTK 45-29 including a 32-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Anwil looked well-organized offensively handing out 42 assists comparing to just 19 passes made by GTK's players. The best player for the winners was American Chase Simon (201-89, college: Detroit Mercy) who scored 22 points and 4 assists. Croatian center Josip Sobin (203-89, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Myles Mack (175-93, college: Rutgers) who recorded 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Desmond Washington (188-92, college: St.Peter's) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Four Anwil and five GTK players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains fourth place with 20-7 record. Loser GTK keeps the eleventh position with 18 games lost. Anwil will face Polpharma (#10) in Starogard Gdanski in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. GTK will play at home against HydroTruck Radom and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
