There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Picken Claret (14-12) was outleveled by ninth ranked Gran Canaria (13-13) in Las Palmas 91-71 on Saturday. American guard Sparkle Taylor (178-95, college: UTEP) orchestrated the victory by scoring 39 points (!!!) and 7 rebounds. Senegalese Marieme Diop (186) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Gran Canaria's coach Maikel Lopez used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Senegalese power forward Kamara-Ndeye Thiama (193-97, agency: BeoBasket) replied with 23 points (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and Belgian Jana Raman (185-91) added 16 points in the effort for Picken Claret. Gran Canaria moved-up to eighth place in Group B, which they share with Alcobendas. Loser Picken Claret keeps the sixth position with 12 games lost.
