Rather expected game when 7th ranked Girona Basquet (15-16) lost on the road to fourth ranked Marin (16-14) 82-72 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Marin. Girona Basquet was better in fourth quarter 26-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for British-Irish forward Taiwo Badmus (203-93, college: Virginia-Wise) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds. Jamaican-American center Vashil Fernandez (208-92, college: Valpo) contributed with 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Five Marin players scored in double figures. Forward Jordi Trias (208-80) replied with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Sergi Costa (188-96) added 14 points in the effort for Girona Basquet. Girona Basquet's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Marin maintains fourth position in Silver with 16-14 record. Girona Basquet at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth place with 16 games lost. Marin will face higher ranked Almansa (#3) on the road in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Girona Basquet will play against Zornotza (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
