Regular Season Round 29: Valmontone - Catania Alfa 80-89

There was an upset when higher ranked Valmontone (10-17) was defeated at home by fifteenth ranked Catania Alfa (7-22) 89-80 on Sunday. Alessandro Agosta (204-84) stepped up and scored 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and forward Simone Gatti (202-82) chipped in 16 points. Four Catania Alfa players scored in double figures. Guard Daniele Grilli (190-87) responded with 23 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Dario Scodavolpe (193-83) scored 17 points and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted Catania Alfa maintains fifteenth place in B with 7-22 record, which they share with Lugo. Loser Valmontone dropped to the twelfth position with 17 games lost. Catania Alfa will face higher ranked Cuore Napoli (#7) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
