Regular Season Round 58: Nagoya DD - Shiga L-Stars 92-65
Date: April 14, 2019
Not a big story in a game when 5th ranked Shiga L-Stars (18-40) were outscored by second ranked Diamond Dolphins (31-27) in Nagoya 92-65. Diamond Dolphins made 17-of-21 charity shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. American center Hilton Armstrong (210-84, college: Connecticut) fired 25 points and 9 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winners. The other American import forward Justin Burrell (207-88, college: St.John's) chipped in a double-double by scoring 19 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Nigerian-American power forward Gani Lawal (206-88, college: Georgia Tech) produced a double-double by scoring 30 points and 12 rebounds and international swingman Sato Takuma (194-95) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Diamond Dolphins maintains second position with 31-27 record having nineteen points less than leader Ryukyu GK, which they share with SeaHorses. Shiga L-Stars at the other side keep the fifth place with 40 games lost. Diamond Dolphins' next round opponent will be Fukuoka Rizing (#6) on the road. Shiga L-Stars will play against the league's leader Ryukyu GK in Okinawa and hope to win that game.
