Regular Season Round 58: Kawasaki BT - Niigata Albirex 74-84

An interesting game for Niigata Albirex (43-15) which played road game in Kanagawa against their biggest opponent Toshiba Thunders (38-21). First ranked Niigata Albirex managed to get a 10-point victory 84-74. Niigata Albirex made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. American Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) notched a double-double by scoring 26 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Amanze Egekeze (203-95, college: Belmont) supported him with 34 points (!!!). Even a double-double of 24 points and 10 rebounds by international power forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) did not help to save the game for Toshiba Thunders. American power forward Vernon Macklin (208-86, college: Florida) added 18 points and 6 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Niigata Albirex have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 43-15 record. Loser Toshiba Thunders keep the second place with 21 games lost. Niigata Albirex will meet at home Yokohama BC (#6) in the next round where they are favorite. Toshiba Thunders will play against Aishin Sea Horses (#3) in Kariya and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
