Regular Season Round 58: Hitachi SR - Tochigi Brex 65-99

An interesting game for Tochigi Brex (47-10) which played road game in Tokyo against 4th ranked Hitachi Sunrockers (27-31). Second ranked Tochigi Brex had an easy win 99-65. Tochigi Brex dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Hitachi Sunrockers' 22. It was a great shooting night for Tochigi Brex especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 58.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 28 assists. American forward Jeffrey Gibbs (188-80, college: Otterbein) had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) chipped in 9 points, 14 rebounds and 6 assists during the contest. Four Tochigi Brex players scored in double figures. At the losing side American Ryan Kelly (211-91, college: Duke) responded with 9 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and Canadian center Robert Sacre (213-89, college: Gonzaga) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Tochigi Brex have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 47-10 record having four points less than leader Ryukyu GK. Hitachi Sunrockers lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with 31 games lost. Tochigi Brex will play against Akita Happinets (#5) at home in the next round. Hitachi Sunrockers will play against the league's leader Chiba Jets and hope to get back on the winning track.
