Regular Season Round 30: Gijon - L'Hospitalet 86-52

There was a small surprise when eleventh ranked Gijon (11-19) rolled over at home 9th ranked L'Hospitalet (13-17) 86-52 on Sunday. They outrebounded L'Hospitalet 53-28 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for Canadian forward Shane Osayande (198-93, college: Saskatchewan, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 12 rebounds. The former international swingman Saul Blanco (196-85) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. American guard Garret Covington (196-94, college: W.Illinois, agency: Two Points) replied with 17 points and 5 rebounds and Georgian center Shota Gelazonia (205-94) added 12 points and 5 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for L'Hospitalet. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gijon moved-up to tenth place in Silver. Loser L'Hospitalet keeps the ninth position with 17 games lost. Gijon will face Vic (#11) on the road in the next round.
