Winner League top team - Maccabi T-A (20-6) had no problems winning another game on Sunday. This time they crushed fifth ranked Beer Sheva (14-13) 96-64. Maccabi T-A shot 68.9 percent from the field and had 23 for 37 from the free-throw line, while Beer Sheva only scored five points from the stripe. Maccabi T-A had a 34-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Maccabi T-A especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 55.0 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists comparing to just 14 passes made by Beer Sheva's players. 26 personal fouls committed by Beer Sheva helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for the former international center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. American-Tunisian Michael Roll (198-87, college: UCLA) contributed with 17 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. American Jakim Donaldson (204-83, college: Edinboro) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import point guard Kerron Johnson (183-90, college: Belmont) added 15 points and 7 assists in the effort for Beer Sheva. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion maintains first place with 20-6 record. Newly promoted Beer Sheva keeps the fifth position with 13 games lost. Maccabi T-A are looking forward to face Galil Gilboa (#10) in Rosh Pina in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Beer Sheva will play on the road against Hapoel Holon (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
