No shocking result in a game when ninth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (11-16) beat bottom-ranked Bnei Hasharon (6-21) in Hod Hasharon 97-86 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Bnei Hasharon managed to win second period 33-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Maccabi Ashdod looked well-organized offensively handing out 32 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American Mark Tollefsen (206-92, college: Arizona) who led the winners and scored 28 points. International Nimrod Levi (208-95) accounted for 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side. Canadian guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes (193-94, college: FSU) came up with 19 points and 9 assists and the former international center DOr Fischer (211-81, college: WVU) added 14 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Bnei Hasharon in the defeat. Four Maccabi Ashdod and five Bnei Hasharon players scored in double figures. Maccabi Ashdod have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain ninth place with 11-16 record. Bnei Hasharon at the other side stay at the bottom position with 21 games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will meet at home higher ranked Rishon (#8) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Bnei Hasharon will play against Ironi Nahariya (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
