Regular Season Round 18: Rustavi - Olimpi 90-59
Date: April 18, 2019
Bottom-ranked Rustavi managed to get a third victory, breaking the four-game losing streak on Thursday night. This time they outleveled sixth-ranked Olimpi 90-59. It's especially surprising that the victory came too easily and 31-point difference proves that Rustavi was well-prepared to that game. Rustavi dominated on the defensive end, holding Olimpi to just 7 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpi's 22. They outrebounded Olimpi 45-27 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Rustavi looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Egyptian forward Ahmed Hamdy (206-93, college: TCU, agency: ISE) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 14 rebounds and 5 assists. American power forward KenDarrius Hamilton (206-96, college: Tennessee St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 27 points and 11 rebounds. Hamdy is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Rustavi players scored in double figures. Rustavi's coach Giorgos Ketselidis felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Reggie Baker (193-93, college: Beth.-Cookman) who recorded 24 points and 5 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Tre Bennett (178-92, college: Angelo St.) added 14 points respectively. Rustavi maintains tenth position with 3-15 record. Olimpi lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with ten games lost. They share the position with Batumi.
