Regular Season Round 28: Monaco - Chalon 93-78

There was no surprise when 13th ranked Chalon/Saor (11-17) was defeated on the road by second ranked Monaco (19-9) 93-78 on Saturday. Monaco dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Chalon/Saor's 40 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Monaco looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Bosnian center Elmedin Kikanovic (211-88, agency: BeoBasket) fired 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). International guard Paul Lacombe (190-90, agency: BeoBasket) chipped in 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Monaco players scored in double figures. American point guard Justin Robinson (174-95, college: Monmouth) produced 17 points and 8 assists and swingman Bastien Pinault (195-93) added 8 points and 6 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Monaco have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 19-9 record having just two points less than leader ASVEL, which they share with Nanterre. Loser Chalon/Saor keeps the thirteenth place with 17 games lost. Monaco will meet league's leader ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne Basket on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week.
