Regular Season Round 25: Cretan Kings - Peristeri GS 83-73

An interesting game took place in Rethymno where 4th placed Peristeri GS (16-9) was upset on the court of twelfth ranked Cretan Kings (7-18) 83-73. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Peristeri GS. The game was mostly controlled by Cretan Kings. Peristeri GS was better in third quarter 25-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Worth to mention a great performance of Ukrainian-American guard Steven Burtt (189-84, college: Iona) who helped to win the game recording 28 points. American point guard Anthony Hickey (180-92, college: Oklahoma St.) contributed with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Five Cretan Kings players scored in double figures. Ghanian-American forward Ben Bentil (206-95, college: Providence) answered with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds and American point guard Jordan Callahan (184-90, college: Tulane) added 14 points and 6 assists in the effort for Peristeri GS. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cretan Kings have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Kymis and Lavrio. Newly promoted Peristeri GS keeps the fourth position with nine games lost. Cretan Kings' next round opponent will be higher ranked Aris (#9) in Thessaloniki and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Peristeri GS will play at home against PAOK (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
