Everything went according to plan when seventh ranked Vicenza (14-13) won against at home 16th ranked Varese (5-23) 56-46 on Saturday. They outrebounded Varese 47-36 including 34 on the defensive glass. Croatian power forward Ivona Matic (190-86) fired a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Lucia Ferri (183-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Vicenza's coach Aldo Corno used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Swingman Alessandra Visconti (187-87) produced 10 points and 8 rebounds and power forward Sara Polato (183-98) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Vicenza maintains seventh position in A2 with 14-13 record. Newly promoted Varese keeps the sixteenth place with 23 games lost. Vicenza will face Bolzano BK (#8) on the road in the next round. Varese will play against Carugate (#10) and hope to win that game.
