Regular Season Round 7: Tijuana - Obregon 83-81

A very close game took place in Tijuana between Tijuana Zonkeys and Halcones de Ciudad Obregon. First ranked Tijuana Zonkeys (9-5) got a very close home victory over 3rd placed Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (7-6). Tijuana Zonkeys managed to escape with a 2-point win 83-81 in the fight for the second place. Tijuana Zonkeys had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. The game was dominated by American players. It was a great evening for Mychal Ammons (198-92, college: S.Alabama) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists. Center DeAngelo Riley (206-88, college: Azusa Pacific) helped adding 16 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). At the losing side forward Timajh Parker-Rivera (202-94, college: Towson) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 17 rebounds and forward Lyonell Gaines (198-93, college: Morehead St., agency: Best of You Sports) scored 20 points. Five Tijuana Zonkeys and four Halcones de Ciudad Obregon players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Despite that victory Tijuana Zonkeys went down to second position due to points difference. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with six games lost. They share the position with Hermosillo and La Paz. Tijuana Zonkeys will meet league's leader Caballeros de Culiacan on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Halcones de Ciudad Obregon will play against Pioneros Los Mochis and hope to secure a win.
