The game between closely ranked teams ended with fifteenth ranked Kavala's (10-18) road victory over bottom-ranked Ethnikos (1-27) in Pireus 94-76 on Wednesday. Kavala dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Ethnikos' 34. Kavala forced 22 Ethnikos turnovers and outrebounded them 49-28 including a 24-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Quite impressive performance for naturalized Nigerian guard Etinosa Erevbenagie (186-95) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. Guard Nikolaos Kamaras (196-97) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Kavala's coach Andreas Karapiperidis used entire bench and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Anastasios Maragkidis replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds and swingman Nikolaos Maragkidis (196-97, college: Green Mountain) added 22 points and 4 assists in the effort for Ethnikos. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Kavala moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Marousi and Evropi. Ethnikos lost eighteenth consecutive game. They stay dead last with 27 lost games. Kavala will face higher ranked Psychiko (#10) in Athens in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Ethnikos will play on the road against Koroivos (#12) and hope to win that game.
