Regular Season Round 9: Perry Lakes H. - Warwick S. 84-91

Date: April 25, 2019
We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Floreat where seventh ranked Senators (5-2) defeated 6th ranked Hawks (6-3) 91-84 on Thursday. Senators looked well-organized offensively handing out 43 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Senators made 36 blocks. American guard Justin King (196-89, college: TRU) stepped up and scored 23 points, 5 assists and 4 steals for the winners and forward Caleb Davis (206-95, college: Saginaw Valley) chipped in 18 points and 8 assists. The best for the losing side was guard Ryan Smith (192-92) with 19 points and 9 assists and the former international forward Ben Purser (200-90, college: Augusta) scored 16 points, 9 assists and 5 steals. Five Senators and four Hawks players scored in double figures. Hawks' coach tested eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Senators moved-up to sixth place in League. Loser Hawks dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Senators will face league's leader Wanneroo in Joondalup in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hawks will play at home against Suns (#8) and hope to win that game.
